Exhilarated!

I am beyond thrilled to share that A Road Map for Finding Wild Horses has received a 2025 High Plains International Book Award!

I was deeply honoured to have been included with a host of outstanding writers in the nominations for this award. Knowing the connection to the landscape that inspires our words makes this even more meaningful. I am incredibly thankful for the support I received from the team at Turnstone Press in bringing this book into being. They, along with my editor, Di Brandt, made the process of publishing my first full-length collection a wonderful experience.

Spending days at a time away from home in order to write about Alberta’s wild mountain horses was not easy, and my husband and children took it all in stride. Their love and encouragement made all the difference in seeing this book come to light. I am also deeply grateful to my friends in Edmonton’s writing community, who inspire, motivate, and create in ways that are both generative and generous.
