Shadows of Things, No. 2

From a series of wet specimen portraits, photographed at the Natural History Museum of London. Known as the 'spirit collection,' it is one of the only wet specimen collections in the world which is stored on full display. This particular image is of Rhodalia miranda, a marine organism known as a siphonophore; collected in the late 19th century by the H.M.S. ‘Challenger’ and stored in alcohol.

The photographs are put through a photopolymer printmaking process, whereby a negative is created and transferred to a photopolymer plate. These plates are then printed on cotton rag paper, using a letterpress. Printed in limited edition, each is numbered and signed by the artist.

The paper measures 11 x 15 inches, the image itself is 5 1/4 x 8 inches.

All of my prints are packaged with care, so that they arrive to you in pristine condition.

Thank you for looking!
